Esta pe\u00e7a colaborativa \u00e9 inspirada por alquimistas experimentais, como Henning Brand. Black Gold (Ouro Negro) reporta o processo lento necess\u00e1rio para criar o l\u00edquido condensado de ouro preto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Afastando-se da sua origem dourada, foram destilados 700 ml de urina at\u00e9 \u00e0 mat\u00e9ria escura, com cheiro a galinha. Este projeto foi iniciado com o intuito de descobrir cristais na urina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Esta obra explora tamb\u00e9m a crescente possibilidade de cria\u00e7\u00e3o de riqueza a partir de material biol\u00f3gico: hormonas, enzimas, anticorpos monoclonais, podem tornar-se compostos valiosos pelo seu potencial terap\u00eautico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tal como o Petr\u00f3leo, frequentemente designado ouro negro, influenciou a distribui\u00e7\u00e3o mundial de riqueza no s\u00e9culo XX, os produtos biotecnol\u00f3gicos poder\u00e3o fazer o mesmo neste novo s\u00e9culo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ENG\/\/<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This collaborative piece is inspired by experimental alchemists like Henning Brand. Black Gold reports the slow process required to create the condensed liquid of black gold. Moving away from its golden origin, 700 ml of urine were distilled into the dark, chicken-scented liquid. This project was initiated with the aim of discovering crystals in the urine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This work explores the increasing ability to generate wealth from biological materials: hormones, enzymes, or monoclonal antibodies can become valuable compounds for their therapeutic potential. In the same way that oil, often named black gold, influenced the world distribution of wealth in the XXth century, biotechnology compounds have the potential to generate a similar impact in this new century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marta de Menezes (PT) tem vindo a explorar a intersec\u00e7\u00e3o entre a arte e a biologia, trabalhando em laborat\u00f3rios de investiga\u00e7\u00e3o de forma a provar que as novas tecnologias biol\u00f3gicas podem tamb\u00e9m elas ser um meio para a cria\u00e7\u00e3o em belas-artes. \u00c9 desde 2009 diretora das associa\u00e7\u00f5es culturais Ectopia, em Lisboa, e Cultivamos Cultura, em Odemira.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hege Tapio (NOR) tem cultivado uma pr\u00e1tica art\u00edstica interligada aos novos meios, novas tecnologias e ci\u00eancia. O seu trabalho tem sido apresentado nacional e internacionalmente. Tanto como artista ou consultora, tem participado em projetos comissariados por diferentes entidades, e realizado v\u00e1rios projetos de curadoria. Tapio \u00e9 fundadora do arte do i \/ o \/ lab – Centro de Arte Futura.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mark Lipton (CA) \u00e9 professor na School of English and Theatre Studies da University of Guelph. Trabalha nas sec\u00e7\u00f5es transversais dos media e da educa\u00e7\u00e3o, onde as conce\u00e7\u00f5es sobre os media, a cultura e a aprendizagem atuam em contexto de espet\u00e1culo, performance e identidade. Tem investigado sobre Teoria Queer, soberania do corpo, alfabetiza\u00e7\u00e3o medi\u00e1tica e bio\u00e9tica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marta de Menezes (PT) has been exploring the intersection between art and biology, working in research laboratories in order to prove that new biological technologies can also be a means for creation in fine arts. Since 2009 Menezes is the director of cultural associations Ectopia, in Lisbon, and Cultivamos Cultura, in Odemira.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hege Tapio (NOR) has cultivated an artistic practice linked to new media, new technologies and science. Tapio\u2019s work has been presented nationally and internationally. As an artist or consultant, she has participated in projects commissioned by different entities, and carried out several curatorial projects. Tapio is the founder of the art of i \/ o \/ lab – Center of Future Art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mark Lipton (CA) is a professor at the School of English and Theatre Studies at the University of Guelph. He works at the cross-sections of media and education, where conceptions about media, culture and learning act across contexts of spectacle, performance and identity.
