Em vez de pegar em determinadas estruturas de ADN e transform\u00e1-las em c\u00f3digo musical, GeneMusiK pega em fragmentos de melodias ocidentais convencionais e sequ\u00eancia-os como ADN, que \u00e9 subsequentemente&#8221;criado&#8221; e &#8220;misturado&#8221; em culturas bacterianas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>O ADN extra\u00eddo destas culturas pode ent\u00e3o ser re-sequenciado, traduzido para uma pauta musical e interpretado como novas formas musicais GeneMusiK \u00e9 um sistema experimental de mistura e gera\u00e7\u00e3o de m\u00fasica biol\u00f3gica atualmente em desenvolvimento pelo Dr. Nigel Helyer. Esta parte do projeto foi desenvolvida em colabora\u00e7\u00e3o com o iMM e Lu\u00eds Gra\u00e7a.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ENG\/\/<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The GeneMusiK project is designed to establish a functional relationship between conventional Western musical scales and DNA sequences and produce a system for mixing and mutating musical form within a biological context. Whilst there have been several interesting attempts to transliterate DNA code into musical forms and notation these have invariably been theoretical analoguesGeneMusiK departs from previous experiments in that it is an entirely \u2018wet\u2019 process,which employs chemical and biological means to achieve musical transformations.Rather than taking given DNA structures and rendering them as musical code,GeneMusiK takes fragments of conventional Western melody and sequences themas DNA that is subsequently \u2018bred\u2019 and \u2018mixed\u2019 within bacterial cultures. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>DNA extracted from these cultures may then be re-sequenced, translated to musical notation and interpreted as new musical forms.GeneMusiK is an experimental biological music mixing and generating system currently under development by Dr Nigel Helyer. This part of the project was developed in collaboration with iMM and Lu\u00eds Gra\u00e7a.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color\" style=\"color:#858484;font-size:30px\"><strong>BIO<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>PT\/\/<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>O Dr. Nigel Helyer \u00e9 um escultor e artista sonoro de renome internacional, cuja pr\u00e1tica interdisciplinar combina arte e ci\u00eancia para abranger os nossos ambientes sociais, culturais e f\u00edsicos. Ele re\u00fane estas preocupa\u00e7\u00f5es em projetos criativos que levam a comunidade a envolver-se com as suas hist\u00f3rias culturais, identidade e sentido de lugar; convidando-nos a examinar as condi\u00e7\u00f5es abstractas do nosso mundo e as nossas complexas rela\u00e7\u00f5es com ele.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nigel \u00e9 um forte defensor da arte experimental e \u00e9 especialista em colabora\u00e7\u00f5es entre arte e ci\u00eancia. \u00c9 tamb\u00e9m ativo no pensamento cr\u00edtico e \u00e9 um colaborador prol\u00edfico em revistas, confer\u00eancias e emiss\u00f5es. \u00c9 membro da dire\u00e7\u00e3o da Association Internationale de Critiques d&#8217;Art, sediada em Paris, e foi o editor fundador e editor da PraxisM, a revista de arte contempor\u00e2nea da Austr\u00e1lia Ocidental. Nigel \u00e9 autor de v\u00e1rios livros, incluindo Crayvox, The Deluge Ark(ive), Culturescape: An Ecology of Bundanon e When Science Meets Art. A sua escrita abrange fic\u00e7\u00e3o especulativa, incluindo a novela gr\u00e1fica Sonique e o romance Freeze Frame, uma fic\u00e7\u00e3o sobre a rela\u00e7\u00e3o entre o cinema e a vida ap\u00f3s a morte &#8211; concebida para ser acompanhada por uma exposi\u00e7\u00e3o com o mesmo nome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ENG\/\/<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Nigel Helyer; is an internationally prominent sculptor and sound artist, whose interdisciplinary practice combines art and science to embrace our social, cultural and physical environments. He brings these concerns together in creative projects that prompt the community to engage with their cultural histories, identity and sense of place; inviting us to examine the abstract conditions of our world and our complex relationships to it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nigel is a strong advocate for experimental art and is a specialist in Art and science collaborations. He is also active in critical thought and is a prolific contributor to journals, conferences and broadcasts. He is a board member of the Paris based Association Internationale de Critiques d\u2019Art and was the founding editor and publisher of PraxisM the contemporary art journal of Western Australia. Nigel has authored several books, including Crayvox, The Deluge Ark(ive), Culturescape: An Ecology of Bundanon and When Science Meets Art.
