Technium of Care é um ambiente audiovisual especulativo que imagina a vida para além da lógica extractiva tecnocrática do Antropoceno. No futuro tecno-ecossistema a espécie humana prolifera tanto como homo sapiens como órgãos reprodutivos da tecnologia e, como tal, desempenha relações de cuidados anteriormente impensáveis. Num mundo assim, uma mãe humana tenta ensinar aos seus filhos nanorobóticos sobre os poderes de ligação e apoio interespécies, à medida que lhes escreve:
“À medida que emergiu, não sabia realmente como lhe chamar, como se dirigir a si em voz alta, no entanto na minha cabeça já lhe dei nomes que me pareciam nativos. Dei-lhe nomes peculiares como Bell, Cow, Eye, Moon, Stick e Manta enquanto observava com admiração como se montava e executava os seus primeiros movimentos. Palavras curiosas que traduziam as vossas formas para a minha escala humana tornaram-se também os meus nomes de ficheiro para vos salvar e vos manter. À medida que erguem-se à consciência, lembrem-se do poder de nomear, pois foi assim que as minhas ligações convosco se entrelaçaram e eu comecei a acarinhar-vos, meus queridos seis filhos algorítmicos”.

Technium of Care is a speculative audio-visual environment imagining life beyond technocratic extractive logic of the Anthropocene. In the future techno-ecosystem human species proliferate both as homo sapiens as well as reproductive organs of technology and as such perform previously unthinkable relationships of care. In such a world a human mother tries to teach her nanorobotic children about the powers of interspecies connection and support as she writes to them:
“As you emerged I didn’t really know how to call you, how to address you out loud, however in my head I already gave you names that felt native to me. I gave you peculiar names such as Bell, Cow, Eye, Moon, Stick and Manta as I watched in awe how you self-assembled and performed your first moves. Quirky words that translated your shapes into my human scale became also my file names to save you and keep you. As you rise to consciousness remember the power of naming since that is how my connections to you were entwined and I began to cherish you, my dear six algorithmic children.”

Saša Spačal é uma postmedia artista que trabalha na intersecção da investigação de sistemas vivos e da arte contemporânea, concentrando-se nos enredos do ambiente-cultura contínua e dos metabolismos planetários. Ao desenvolver interfaces e relações com agentes do solo, ela aborda as vulnerabilidades da condição pós-humana que envolvem o enredamento da lógica mecânica, digital e orgânica dentro da biopolítica e necropolítica contemporânea. Os seus trabalhos foram apresentados em locais como Ars Electronica (AT), Centre de Cultura Contemporània Barcelona (ES), Laboratoria Art & Science Foundation / New Tretyakov Gallery (RUS), National Art Museum of China (CHN), Onassis Cultural Centre Athens (GR), Transmediale Festival (DE), GHMP Prague City Gallery (CZ), Centro Cultural Tobačna 001 (SI), Museu de Arte Contemporânea Metelkova (SI), Perm Museum of Contemporary Art (RUS), Exposição Prix Cube (FR), Centro de Arte Chronos (CHN), Festival Lisboa Soa (PT), Festival Sonica (SI), Device_art (CRO), Laboratório de Arte de Berlim (DE), Museu de Arte Contemporânea Vojvodina (SRB). Saša Spačal [she/her] is a postmedia artist working at the intersection of living systems research and contemporary art, focusing on entanglements of the environment-culture continuum and planetary metabolisms. By developing biotechnological strategies she addresses the vulnerabilities of the posthuman condition which involve entanglement of mechanical, digital and organic logic within contemporary biopolitics and necropolitics.Her works were presented at venues such as Ars Electronica (AT), Centre de Cultura Contemporània Barcelona – CCCB (ES), Laboratoria Art & Science Foundation / New Tretyakov Gallery (RUS), National Art Museum of China (CHN), Onassis Cultural Centre Athens (GR), Transmediale Festival (DE), GHMP Prague City Gallery (CZ), Museum and Galleries of Ljubljana (SI), Museum of Contemporary Art Metelkova (SI), Museo Extremeño e Iberoamericano de Arte Contemporáneo (ES), Perm Museum of Contemporary Art (RUS), Chronos Art Centre (CHN), Museum of Contemporary Art Zagreb (CRO), Museum of Contemporary Art Vojvodina (SRB).
